How to Set Your Mind on Things Above: 6 Ways to Let Go of Earthly Things

How to Set Your Mind on Things Above: 6 Ways to Let Go of Earthly Things Debbie McDaniel Set your minds on things above, not on earth...

Matthew 6:31-34
So do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.
Life is full of options. Many decisions involve a choice between following God's way or our own. Maturing Christians will increasingly sacrifice their own desires and embrace His will.
Dear God, sometimes I’m not entirely sure where You’re leading me or what Your plan is. I’m battling fear of the future, and I worry about what others will think. But, I trust that You gave me gifts I am meant to use, even if that means starting small, where I am, with what I have. I trust You have a plan for how my gifts will unfold and serve the world. I’m here, with hands wide open, ready to show up with what You’ve given me, right now, right here, in my own unglamorous, totally divine, everyday life. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

James 1:4, “Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.” (NIV)

He is good. And He knows what’s good for us. His plan for us is good. The way we identify ourselves is not always the same way He sees us.Being open to His version of who we are made to be and what we are here to accomplish starts by believing in Jesus. Walking with Him doesn’t always make sense to us, but we can trust that we are being made holy, one stride at at time, until we break the tape in heaven.
